Bradshaw Bourbon
Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
103.8 Proof
Aged a minimum of 2 years

Terry Bradshaw, the legendary Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Fame quarterback, needs no introduction. However, you might not be as familiar with his bourbon, Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It was distilled by Green River Distilling (formerly OZ Tyler) with barrels selected and blended in conjunction with the folks at Bradshaw Bourbon.

Some cool facts about the bottle. The 103.8 proof (51.9% ABV) corresponds to Bradshaw’s pass completion rate of 51.9%. There’s a 4X on the top of the cap, commemorating the Steelers 4 Super Bowl victories with Bradshaw at their helm. The years of the Super Bowls and their Roman numeral designations also appear on the bottle.

Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was produced by Silver Screen Bottling Co, self-described as “… the premiere licensing, bottling, and distribution company for the most prized properties in film, television, gaming, music, and sports.”

Tasting Notes

Let’s taste it:

🛏 Rested for 15 minutes in a Glencairn

👉🏻Nose: Sweet honey cornbread, toast, soft caramel, hint of milk chocolate, touch of oak & cherries; moderate alcohol burn
👉🏻Taste: Cornbread, Fruit Loops, and honey sweetness; caramel towards the end, with some oak and char
👉🏻Finish: The flavors and sweetness continue and char becomes a bit more noticeable, without dominating. Fairly long finish with a moderate alcohol burn.

To be perfectly honest, I originally had no intention of buying this bourbon. I figured it was another celebrity putting his name on a bottle. However, after hearing Terry on the Bourbon Lens podcast, I became intrigued. He spoke of his long time passion for bourbon, and how much time and effort they all put in to produce what they felt was a high quality bourbon at a reasonable price. The MSRP is $39.99; however I just picked this up at Liquor Barn in Lexingon, KY for $47.99, which is a good bit of a markup over MSRP.🤔

Summary

Anyway, I am glad I bought Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon. I just opened it, so I assume it will change a bit, but so far, so good. It has young flavors with lots of cornbread and sweetness, although I am not exactly sure where the Fruit Loops are coming from… I think the price I paid is high for a ~2 year old bourbon, and I would have much preferred paying the MSRP, which is still at the high end for age. I do like it though, and it is very easy to drink. Have you tried this bourbon? What did you think? Cheers! 🥃
