Please enjoy my Brother’s Bond Bourbon Review!
I am not ashamed to admit it. Even though I am not the target demographic, I was a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries, and then its spin-off, The Originals. So when I heard that Damon and Stefan Salvatore, er, I mean Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, were coming out with a bourbon, I knew I had to give it a try. I know, I know, I am not the target demographic for the bourbon, either, but they did drink a ton of bourbon on the show, so I figured they knew what they were doing!
About Brother’s Bond Bourbon
Brother’s Bond Bourbon is a four grain bourbon made from a blend of 3 different mash bills distilled in Indiana. The mash was fermented with a proprietary yeast strain for around 3 days and the distillate was barreled at 120 proof in #4 char barrels with #2 char heads. A portion of the proceeds will go to support regenerative farming.
So, “What’s the bourbon like?”, I am sure you are wondering.
Tasting Notes
Let’s taste it:
🛏 Rested for 10 minutes in a Glencairn
👉🏻Nose: Apple, cherry, caramel, brown sugar, rye spiciness, hint of pine and walnut; light alcohol
👉🏻Taste: Buttery caramel, honey, simple syrup sweetness, and some rye spiciness; medium body
👉🏻Finish: Sweetness and caramel continue and pick up a bit of black pepper, more baking spices and barrel char which build with the black pepper lingering. Relatively mild burn but fairly long finish for the proof.
Summary
I have really enjoyed this bourbon. The flavors in the nose are fairly soft, with the apple and rye spice being most pronounced, and a bit of nuttiness, mainly walnut, but even a touch of marzipan. The flavors are fairly full for the proof, with a finish that is a bit longer than I would have expected, too. It is a great bourbon for when I’m in the mood for something with a lower proof; perfect for sipping over a few hours with friends or outside on a warm day. It’s so easy to drink that I actually have finished my bottle already, and have already picked up another!
Have you had Brother’s Bond Bourbon? What did you think? I’m interested to know. Cheers!🥃
P.S. Thanks for the signed bottle Ian Somerhalder!
