Sagamore Spirit Calvados Finish Rye Whiskey Review
100 proof

Check out this less than 3 minute review of Sagamore Spirit Calvados Finish Rye Whiskey. Nik gives great insight into this whiskey, as only he can. His tasting notes are below.

I have been a fan of Calvados ever since my trip to Europe during my college days, so when Sagamore Spirit announced this new rye, I was really looking forward to it. They start with their 4 year old rye, then they put it in Calvados barrels for 11 months and then back into their own rye whiskey barrels for another 9 months.

Nose: Apples, sweetness and light caramel on a background of rye spicesTaste: The apples are dominant, with some notes of pear and a honey sweetnessFinish: Fairly long. The fruits remain but the rye spices become more evident, with black pepper and then cloves and a bit of barrel char rising up and lingering.

I really like this one. The calvados flavors are quite noticeable, which is great for me because I am a huge fan. I think they blend very nicely with the rye spices. So if you are looking for a rye that is a bit like a caramel baked apple, then this is the perfect whiskey for you! Stay safe. Cheers!🥃
