Jim Beam Bonded Bourbon & Old Tub Bourbon Reveiws

Jim Beam Bonded Bourbon & Old Tub Bottled in Bond Bourbon Review

  • by

I will discuss both the Jim Beam Bonded Bourbon & Old Tub Bottled in Bond Bourbon together, since they come from the same distillery and have the same mash bill. The best I can tell, they differ only in where they may have been aged, and in filtering.

Early Times Bottled in Bond Bourbon Review

Early Times Bottled in Bond Bourbon Review

Early Times Bottled in Bond bourbon is a relatively new addition to the market. Early Times itself is an old brand. It was first established in 1860 by Jack Beam and A.G. Nall. The brand was successful up until shortly before prohibition when Jack and his son, Ed, who ran the distillery with him, passed away. Then prohibition closed the distillery. The brand was purchased by Brown-Forman in 1923, who originally sold Early Times Bourbon under their medicinal license.

J.T.S Brown & J.W. Dant Bottled in Bond Bourbons

J.W. Dant & J.T.S Brown Bottled in Bond Bourbon Reviews

I am writing about J.W. Dant & J.T.S Brown Bottled in Bond bourbons together, because frankly, I always get them confused. While the labels might lead one to believe that these bourbons are made by The Dant Distillery Company and J.T.S Brown’s Son Company (those are both the correct, albeit unusual, spellings), they are in reality made by Heaven Hill. Both are distilled at the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, KY, and both are bottled at Heaven Hill’s bottling facility in Bardstown. We know this to be true, because as these are bonded bourbons, this information must appear on the label. And indeed it does: both are distilled at DSP-KY-1 and both are bottled at DSP-KY-31.

Belle Meade Black Belle Bourbon Review

Belle Meade Black Belle Bourbon Review

Belle Meade Black Belle Bourbon is part of the Belle Meade Craftsman Cask Collection. This bourbon exemplifies the circle of life. The folks at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery first age their Belle Meade Bourbon 10-11 years. The barrels are dumped, and then head to the Blacksone Brewing Co. where they are filled with Blackstone’s Black Belle Imperial Stout, which is infused with cocoa nibs. The stout ages for 7 months, the barrels are emptied and then refilled with Belle Meade Bourbon for another 12 months. The end result is this amazing bourbon!

Blue Run Bourbon Aged 13 Years

Blue Run Bourbon Aged 13 Years

Blue Run Bourbon Aged 13 Years is Blue Runs Spirits’ first release. According to their website: “The banks of Kentucky’s Royal Spring — what cofounder Jesse McKnight called the “Blue Run” as a kid — with its pure, limestone-filtered water, seemed like the perfect place to start. After all, as the birthplace of bourbon in 1789, the Blue Run is steeped in more than two centuries of distilling history. And now, it’s where bourbon is being reborn.”

Neeley Family Distillery Bourbon - Eight Year Seasoned Barrel

Neeley Family Distillery Bourbon – 8 Year Seasoned Barrel Review

I’ve been a big fan of Neeley Family Distillery bourbon ever since our first visit almost 2 years ago. At that time, their bourbon was just starting to reach maturity. While it was still a young bourbon, the flavors were excellent and it didn’t suffer from any of the characteristics I had found in some of other younger bourbons.

Bardstown Bourbon Company Discovery Series #4

Bardstown Bourbon Company Discovery Series #4 Review

The Bardstown Bourbon Company Discovery Series #4 is an interesting bourbon. The caramel, vanilla and cherries in the nose changed considerably in the taste, with that being more of a well aged bourbon. The oak, char and dryness then dominate, and continue into the long, long finish.

Woodford Double Double Oaked 2020

Woodford Double Double Oaked Bourbon Review

  • by

The Woodford Double Double Oaked Bourbon is a recurring limited release bourbon that is part of Woodford Reserve’s Distillery series. First appearing in 2015, this bourbon has been released a few times since then, the most recent release being now, January 2021. I have really enjoyed this bourbon in the past, so I had to get a couple of bottles of this latest release, which states on its label a bottling date of 2020.

Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Review

Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon Review

Terry Bradshaw, the legendary Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Fame quarterback, needs no introduction. However, you might not be as familiar with his bourbon, Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It was distilled by the folks at Green River Distilling (formerly OZ Tyler) with barrels selected and blended in conjunction with the folks at Bradshaw Bourbon.

Smooth Ambler Old Scout Bourbon

Smooth Ambler Old Scout Bourbon Review

Smooth Ambler Old Scout Bourbon is a high rye bourbon sourced from Indiana, presumably from MGP. This particular single barrel is 5 years old, as I believe most of them are. It is bottled at cask strength and is non-chill filtered.
