All Nations Flagship Bourbon – An Important Clarification

First, I want to clarify which bourbon in the All Nations line is actually the “Flagship Bourbon”. As it turns out, none of the All Nations Bourbons have the word “Flagship” written on their labels. However, Garrard County Distilling Co considers their white labelled 96 proof All Nations Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey to be their “Flagship Bourbon”. So, with that important distinction in mind, we can move on to my review!

Garrard County Distilling Co

Garrard County Distilling Co, is the home of All Nations Bourbon. They are a fairly new (January 2024), large, state of the art distillery located in Lancaster, Kentucky. You can learn all about them in our article Garrard County Distilling Co – Behind The Scenes.

The Specifics – – All Nations Flagship Bourbon Review

Since Garrard County Distilling Co has only been distilling for a year, All Nations Kentucky Straight Bourbon was crafted with existing stocks from distilleries across the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. The mash bills included in the blend are (according to a recent press release): 75% corn, 12% rye, 13% malted barley; 70% corn, 21% rye, 9% malted barley; and 64% corn, 24% rye, 12% malted barley. The whiskey was aged in Char 4 barrels in Clermont, Danville, Owensoro and Boston, KY.

For those wondering which distilleries these bourbons may have come from, based on the mash bills and locations given, a good guess would be: Green River Distilling (Owensboro), Wilderness Trail Distillery (Danville) and James B. Beam Distilling Co (Clermont & Boston, KY). However, I’m wondering if the rye and malted barley percentages might be switched in the first mash bill, since 75/13/12 would be a better match the (presumed) Beam mash bill.

Tasting Notes – All Nations Flagship Bourbon Review

Let’s taste it:

🛏 Rested for 15 minutes in a Glencairn

👉🏻Nose: Honey, cinnamon, caramel, dark cherries; rye spices; juicy fruit gum; alcohol vapor appropriate for the proof
👉🏻Taste: Light honey, caramel, rye spices, mild dry oak, black tea
👉🏻Finish: Rye spices, lingering black tea; building white pepper spice; increasingly dry; mild dry oak and barrel char; fairly long with lingering spice and char; moderate warmth

The nose of All Nations Flagship Bourbon has notes of honey, cinnamon, caramel, dark cherries, rye spices and sweet fruit gum, like Juicy Fruit. Initially, light honey, caramel, ryes spices, mild dry oak and hints of black tea are present in the taste. Later on, heading into the long finish, the rye spices linger, the black tea becomes a bit more noticeable, and there is building white pepper spice. As time goes on, the mouthfeel grows more dry, and there is mild dry oak and barrel char. Spice and mild char linger, and I am left with a pleasant warmth.

Conclusion – All Nations Flagship Bourbon Review

All Nations Flagship Bourbon has a very enjoyable combination of flavors throughout. I very much like the mix of sweet fruit flavors with the spices in the nose, with a transition towards milder flavors initially in the taste, but increasing spice and dryness later on. Overall, this is a flavorful, but easy drinking bourbon. Wrap it all up in a $40 price point for a 5-7 year old blend of bourbons, and this bottle is a strong contender for a place on anyone’s bar.
