The First Age-Stated Angel’s Envy Release

The 2025 Angel’s Envy 10 Cask Strength Bourbon marks an important milestone for the brand as its first-ever age-stated release.* Crafted under the direction of Master Distiller Owen Martin, this limited-edition bourbon combines a cumulative aging time of ten years in new American oak and port wine barrels. Its release on October 10, 2025 honors the original month planned for the brand’s debut back in 2010, when founder Lincoln Henderson chose to delay the launch until the whiskey reached his exacting standards. This year’s release comes full circle, celebrating both tradition and innovation within Angel’s Envy’s ongoing legacy.

Tasting Notes – Angel’s Envy 10 Cask Strength Port Wine Finished Bourbon Review (2025)

🛏 Rested: 15 minutes in a Glencairn

👉🏻 Nose: Sweet dark berries, mild rye spices, orange citrus, chocolate chip cookie dough, vanilla, and toffee. Alcohol vapor is noticeable but appropriate for the 122.6 proof.
👉🏻 Taste: Moderately sweet at first, with dark berries, caramel, rye spices, and tart orange peel. Fairly rapidly, the mouthfeel becomes increasingly dry and spicy.
👉🏻 Finish: The flavors continue into the finish with increasing white pepper spice reaching a fairly high level, along with increasing dryness and subtle lingering berries and tart orange. The finish is very long, with lingering spice, dry wood, and mild barrel char, leaving a deep, long-lasting warmth.

Summary

The fairly high proof of Angel’s Envy 10 Cask Strength Bourbon is noticeable from the start, but once I’m accustomed to it, I can begin appreciating the flavors in the nose. It’s the sweet dark berries that lead off, accompanied by tart orange citrus. However, the confectionary flavors are also quite noticeable. I’m not sure where it is coming from, but I do get chocolate chip cookie dough on both of the occasions on which I’ve tasted this whiskey.

While the dark berries are a consistent flavor throughout, the palate otherwise changes character midway—beginning with moderate sweetness but becoming increasingly dry and spicy. It’s a nice contrast to the richer flavors up front, and the dark berries linger on, reminding me that this is indeed a port cask–finished whiskey.

Conclusion – Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Port Wine Finished Bourbon Review (2025)

Overall, there’s a recognizable Angel’s Envy port-finished character to this bourbon; however, it takes it so much further. Everything is turned up a notch—the richness and berries in the nose, as well as the dryness and spice in the finish. This is a very enjoyable pour, befitting of a cask strength limited release.

Are you a fan of Angel’s Envy’s yearly cask strength releases? Have you tried this one, or are you planning to pick it up? I’d love to know what you think! Cheers!🥃
