Background
Ass Pocket Whiskey takes its name from an old Delta juke-joint term for a flask—something you kept on you so you could keep it in you. The brand reflects the philosophy that premium whiskey should be opened and enjoyed rather than collected.
Ass Pocket Whiskey Lot No. 6 11-Year Bourbon is a heritage Kentucky straight bourbon selected by APW founder Derek Trucks. It is presented in the brand’s signature 200mL flask.

Tasting Notes — Ass Pocket Whiskey Lot No. 6 11-Year Bourbon Review
Let’s taste it:
🛏 Rested: 15 minutes in a Glencairn glass
👉🏻 Nose: Sweet oak, maple, vanilla, dark stone fruits like dark cherries and raspberry jam; tannins; alcohol vapor somewhat greater than expected for the proof
👉🏻 Taste: Mild simple syrup sweetness, oak, tannins, tart orange citrus and black tea
👉🏻 Finish: The sweetness fades fairly quickly, leaving oak, mild tannins, char and white pepper spice. Mild smoky char and spice linger for quite a while.
Mature Bourbon Character at 100 Proof
Ass Pocket Whiskey Lot No. 6 11-Year Bourbon definitely has the characteristics of a mature bourbon. It has the darker stone fruits, sweet oak, touches of tart citrus and vanilla that one would expect. There are moderate tannins, but they are well balanced with the other mature flavors. The oak, too, is definitely present but remains appropriately restrained. This bourbon does drink a bit above its 100 proof, particularly on the nose, even after being open for a few days. Nonetheless, I am very much enjoying this pour.
Who Should Try Ass Pocket Whiskey Lot No. 6 11-Year Bourbon?
If you are a fan of mature bourbons and like them to have oak, noticeable tannins and a bit of spice, then Ass Pocket Whiskey Lot No. 6 11-Year Bourbon is one you’ll want to try. And where else can you get a bourbon like this at such an approachable price, albeit in a 200mL bottle? I can’t think of anywhere else, and that makes it pretty special.
