Barrell Craft Spirits 15 Year Old Bourbon is an interesting blend of Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana bourbons

A blend of Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana bourbons
Bottled at 105.1 proof (cask strength)
Mash Bill: corn, rye, malted barley (percentages not given since it is a blend of bourbons)

Tasting notes:
Nose: buttery, vanilla, maple, caramel
Taste: buttery, butterscotch, vanilla, oak
Finish: oak, sweet, long with a moderate burn, some butterscotch
A touch of water brings out even more buttered popcorn.

This one is an interesting blend. As I become more familiar with older Tennessee bourbons, the characteristic flavors stand out to me. Although maybe it’s just me, because many of the reviews out there, and Barrell’s own tasting notes, describe many fruit flavors that I really am not picking up. The buttery goodness that I associate with these whiskeys is dominant here, so if you like those notes, this one is worth a try. However, like all the Barrell Craft Spirits, this one can be difficult to find, especially since it has been around a year since this one was released, and it was in very high demand after Fred Minnick rated it the best American Whiskey of 2018. The good news is that it looks like a new release at a slightly higher proof – 106. 52 – is coming soon. Cheers!🥃
