But First, Here’s What’s New on BourbonObsessed.com!
We’ve got a new comprehensive write up about our recent visit to Laws Whiskey House in Denver, CO, as well as a few new reviews this week:
- We recently had the pleasure of visiting Law’s Whiskey House in Denver, CO, and spent some quality time with Casey Rizzo, their Brand Manager. We learned all about Laws, toured their facility and sampled their whiskey. We had a fantastic time, and learned a lot, too! You can read all about our visit here: Laws Whiskey House Visit & Tour
- ROW 94 Bourbon – Country Music’s Dierks Bentley recently released his first whiskey, called ROW 94. It is distilled at Green River Distilling Co, aged 4 years and bottled at 94 proof. Learn all about it in my ROW 94 Bourbon Whiskey Review
- LeGrand Single Barrel Bourbon – Eric LeGrand was a defensive tackle at Rutgers University who tragically suffered a severe spinal cord injury during a football game. He has since gone on to accomplish many things, and one is his bourbon brand, Eric LeGrand Spirits. A great thing about his company is that a portion of all sales of his bourbon goes to support the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. I reviewed his new Single Barrel Bourbon and you can read all about it here: Eric LeGrand Single Barrel Bourbon Review
- Southern Star Double Rye – Southern Distilling, of Statesville, NC, first released their Double Rye back in 2020. Back then, it was a blend of 2 year old ryes distilled both in-house and at MGP. However, now it is aged at least 4 years and is all distilled in-house. I recently tasted and reviewed batch 14 of this whiskey and you can read all about it here: Southern Star Double Rye Review
- Keeper’s Heart 10 Year Single Malt – O’Shaughnessy Distilling Co. in Minneaplolis, MN brings us this 10 year old copper pot still distilled Irish Whiskey aged in ex bourbon barrels and finished in Malaga wine casks. “An Irish Whiskey from Minnesota?”, I can hear you saying. Read all about in my Keeper’s Heart 10 Year Single Malt Irish Whiskey Review!
- Old Grand-Dad 114 – Check out my updated review of this classic bourbon that deserves a place on everyone’s bar: Old Grand-Dad 114 Bourbon Review

Bourbon and Distillery News:
- There are changes happening at the Brown-Forman Corporation! Campbell P. Brown will step down as Chair of Directors in July. Subject to his reelection at the annual meeting, he will continue to serve on the Board as a Director. Marshall B. Farrer, a fifth-generation descendent of the company’s founder and a current Director of the Board, will assume the role of Chair of the Board, subject to his reelection to the Board. Read the full story here.
- After a prolonged closure which began in early September, right before the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, Preservation Distillery + Farm in Bardstown, KY has reopened, as of November 16th! They had also delayed the date of their first Estate Bourbon release, a 7 year old pot-distilled wheated bourbon. That release is now rescheduled for December 6th at 10AM. You can learn all about the distillery in our Preservation Distillery Tour Review.
- I am not sure why this press release was sent to me recently, since this device appears to already be sold out. However, it is too ridiculous not to mention, and I am still wondering if it is real. Nonetheless, if you ever wanted to attach a Southern Comfort shooter mini bottle dispenser to your Xbox Series X console, then the “SoConsole” is for you! Or at least it could be if they become available again. The dispenser also has a remote control so you can dispense shooters from up to 80 yards away, which I am sure someone has a good reason for doing… Here’s the link to buy one if they restock. (note: I am not affiliated with the Sazerac Company in any way. This purchase link is provided as a public service.)
- Ohio State Senator Bill DeMora has introduced a bill (Senate Bill 320) that would require high demand allocated bottles of spirits to be opened and immediately re-sealed at the time of purchase. The goal of the bill is to deter “flippers”, people who buy bottles and then resell them at a higher price. However, it sounds like the bill is unlikely to pass. Here’s the article from cleveland.com. (Thanks, Hal, for submitting this article! If you would like to be like Hal, please send me any interesting bourbon or distillery related news stories that you may find.)
- Finally, the next time you are having a difficult time finding a bottle of Weller Aged 12 Years, maybe consider a trip to India. The Sazerac Company is now launching the brand in India, starting with Weller Special Reserve and Weller 12. The price will range from Rs 2500-4500 ($29.60-53.27) for Special Reserve and from Rs 5400-7750 ($63.93-91.75) for Weller 12, depending on location. Yes, Indian has some way high tariffs and taxes on alcoholic beverages that are reflected in those prices. (Rs = Indian Rupee) You can read more at the United News of India.
