  • Hard Truth Sweet Mash Wheated Bourbon Review – Hard Truth Distilling is known for their Sweet Mash Ryes. However, they have just released their first house-distilled bourbons, and there are three of them! I have tried two so far, and enjoyed them both. However, my favorite is their wheated Bottled In Bond Bourbon. Learn all about it in my review!
  • Four Walls Irish American Whiskey Review – A blend of Irish Whiskeys and American Rye from by cousins and entertainment industry veterans Anna Axster and Wendelin von Schroder.

New Whiskey Releases - Whiskey, Distillery & Bourbon News March 10, 2024

New Whiskey Releases
  • ***New Releases — Bourbon News March 10 2024***
  • Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company Releases Toasted Bourbon Batch 1 – The release event will take place at the Peerless Distillery in Louisville on Saturday March 16, beginning at 10am. The first 100 bottles will have special numbered labels, and bottle signings will take place from 10am-noon. Peerless Toasted Bourbon is first aged in char 3 barrels for 5 years, and then finished in medium toast barrels. The price per bottle and proof are not mentioned. More information is available here.
  • ***New Releases — Bourbon News March 10 2024***
  • Old Forester® Releases 117 Series: High Angels’ Share – The 117 Series is a limited expression line up with 3 different releases per year. This latest release is comprised of barrels which had a low yield due to high evaporation, with the result being a bourbon with more concentrated flavors. This is the 3rd release of the High Angels’ Share Bourbon. It is priced at $59.99 for a 375ml bottle, and according to the press release “Guests visiting the distillery for tours between now and March 20 will have the opportunity to sample High Angels’ Share and purchase a bottle, under the distillery’s special release policy. It will also be available at select Kentucky retailers.”
  • ***New Releases — Bourbon News March 10 2024***
  • New Riff Releases 8-Year-Old Bourbon – This bourbon will become a permanent addition to New Riff’s flagship line. A fact that most New Riff fans will find very intriguing is that this bourbon is not Bottled-In-Bond, which is atypical for anything other than New Riff’s single barrel whiskeys. It is still bottled at 100 proof and could have technically been BiB since all of the barrels came from the Spring 2015 season. However, New Riff wanted the flexibility to blend barrels from different seasons in some batches, to maintain the desired flavor profile. Therefore, future batches could have barrels from different seasons. That would make those batches ineligible to be classified as Bottled-In-Bond. The barrels in this batch range from 8 years 8 months to 9 years old. Price is $67.99 for 750ml. You can read much more about it here.
  • ***New Releases — Bourbon News March 10 2024***
  • Castle & Key Releases The Latest In Their Woolgatherer Experimental Series: Rye Finished In Amburrana Barrels – Like all of the Woolgatherer releases, there was only a limited quantity of this whiskey released. It is sold only at the distillery and at their Castle & Key 502 location in Louisville. The whiskey went on sale Thursday March 7, 2024, and it probably won’t last for very long. So, if you would like one, hurry on over! It probably wouldn’t hurt to call first, to check availability. 109 proof, $75 for 750ml.
  • ***New Releases — Bourbon News March 10 2024***
  • Woodford Reserve Announces The 2024 Kentucky Derby Bottle – For those who enjoy collector bottles, this is a much anticipated release each year. According to Woodford Reserve “This year’s special release features the artwork of Kentucky native Wylie Caudill, known for his bold, repetitive patterns, and his signature roses. His painting, “Adorned in Roses,” depicts a racing thoroughbred covered with red roses, with a background of multi-colored roses.” It is just the packaging that makes the release special; the bottle contains Woodford Reserve’s flagship bourbon. 90.4 Proof, $52.99+
  • ***New Releases — Bourbon News March 10 2024***
  • Lost Lantern Whiskey Announces Their Spring 2024 Collection – This is the first regional collection by the independent bottler, and will focus on the midwest. It consists of 7 releases, and will become available on March 27th. The Collection will feature Far-Flung Rye, a multi-distillery blend, and single casks from 6 distilleries: Starlight Distillery, Cedar Ridge, Tom Foolery, Wollersheim Distillery, FEW Spirits and Middle West Spirits. The Collection will be available at the Lost Lantern Tasting room in Vermont, on the Lost Lantern Whiskey website, at and at select retailers in NY and CA. Prices range from $90-$120 per bottle.
