But First, Here’s What’s New on
  • After being closed since early in the pandemic, the new Wild Turkey Distillery Visitor Center has now opened, and tours and tastings have resumed. We visited last week, and they really did a wonderful job with the renovation. We also loved the new tour, the “Born from the Barrel – Russell’s Reserve Immersion Tour” that we had the opportunity to take. Read all about the visitor center and tours in our full article.
  • The Clermont Supper Club is a monthly event at The Kitchen Table Restaurant at the James B. Beam Distilling Company. I recently attended the supper celebrating Overholt Rye, hosted by Fred & Freddie Noe. It featured a four-course meal with paired cocktails, mingling and finishing with shopping at the American Outpost. Read all about it here.
  • We posted new reviews of 15 STARS First West Bourbon, Brother’s Bond Rye, and Oceanside Odysea Bourbon and Odysea Wheated Bourbon.

Now, on to the news!

Buffalo Trace opens their first international experience in London:

Buffalo Trace Distillery London To Open May 6 - Bourbon and Distillery News May 3 2024
Buffalo Trace Distillery London Opens

Although it is called Buffalo Trace Distillery London, it is in actuality a tasting and retail experience. The venue, in the heart of London’s Covent Garden area, will feature two different educational and tasting experiences, as well as a retail store. It is scheduled to open on Monday, May 6. The goal, according to Jake Wenz, CEO and President at Buffalo Trace Distillery, is to “offer a space for spirits novices and lovers to learn more about a whiskey type they are perhaps less familiar with – bourbon. Our aim is to inspire visitors to broaden their palates, and perhaps their cocktails, and we’re hopeful after learning about bourbon and tasting it, they will add it to their drink list.” Read the full press release here.

Beam Suntory Rebrands as Suntory Global Spirits

Beam Suntory, a world leader in premium spirits, announced that it has rebranded as Suntory Global Spirits, reflecting the company’s evolution into a truly global leader across categories in spirits and Ready-to-Drink cocktails. When I first heard this news, I was not pleased that the Beam name was being dropped. However, after thinking about all the global (and other US) brands that the company owns, I guess it makes sense.
