Background – Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch C925 Review
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon has been a three-times-per-year release since 2013, when Batch A313 marked the first official, consistently numbered expression. Earlier gift-shop-only batches reportedly did exist, but A313 is generally considered the beginning of the modern series. For many years, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon carried a 12-year age statement, but beginning in 2023, many of the batches have been younger. This release, Batch C925 is the youngest release yet at 9 years and 1 month, with Batch A125 earlier this year being the next youngest at 10 years and 7 months.
As always, the age statement represents only the youngest barrel in the batch, and does not in any way disclose the ages of any older barrels that were used. This batch continues the line’s tradition of being bottled uncut and non-chill-filtered, with each batch having its own unique taste profile, proof and age statement while keeping the underlying taste characteristics that Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon is known for. Batch C925 is the third Elijah Craig Barrel Proof release of 2025 and arrives nationwide this fall. The next batch, shouldl arrive in January and be designated A126.

Summary – Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch C925 Review
While Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C925 has the flavors I expect from the expression, their balance is a bit different than many prior releases. My bottle took a few days for the flavors to fully develop, but once they did, several things stood out. This batch shows more forward tart orange peel and citrus than I usually find in ECBP releases, present throughout the sip but especially noticeable on the palate. I seem to differ on this from other reviews I have, but I tried it on four separate occasions, and felt the same way each time.
The flavors I generally expect from Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon, such as brown sugar, toffee and vanilla are all present. However, they are not as pronounced as in many other batches. The finish also feels a bit drier than usual. It also has a subtle earthiness. That is something I’ve mostly noticed in 8–9 year Elijah Craig Barrel Proof single barrels. I don’t think I’ve ever detected it in the older batched releases.
Conclusion – Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch C925 Review
As the youngest Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon batch to date, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I’ve never been disappointed by a batch before, and I assumed the blend would still represent the flavor profile the line is known for. Since the age statement reflects only the youngest barrel, there could be, and likely are, older bourbons in the mix. However, the overall balance of flavors in this batch suggests that a good portion may indeed be relatively close to the stated age.
All in all, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch C925 is an enjoyable pour. It is recognizable as a member of the family, for sure. Is it one of the best batches I’ve ever had? I can’t say that it is. Still, fans of the expression will likely appreciate it and enjoy what it brings to the table. I know I do.
Have you tried Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch C925? What did you think? Cheers!🥃
