Garrison Brothers’ Legendary COWBOY BOURBON Rides Again
Distillery Announces Saturday, September 12, as the Release Date for Its Most Coveted Unfiltered, Uncut, Cask-Strength Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey – 2026 Cowboy Bourbon

2026 Cowboy Bourbon Release Date

HYE, Texas (August 11, 2026) – Garrison Brothers, the first and oldest legal whiskey distillery in Texas to produce authentic, handcrafted, corn-to-cork bourbon whiskey, is proud to announce the 2026 release date for Cowboy Bourbon. The first 1,000 bottles of the limited-edition bourbon will be available at Garrison Brothers Distillery in Hye, Texas, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, beginning at 8 a.m.

Eight-Year-Old Bourbon Bottled at 141 Proof

Historically, Cowboy Bourbon® is one of the most notable and award-winning bourbons ever made in Texas. The 2026 release marks the 12th edition of Cowboy Bourbon. Each barrel was hand-selected by Master Distiller Donnis Todd and aged for at least eight years to achieve unparalleled depth of flavor. Bottled at cask strength, uncut, and unfiltered, the bourbon delivers a bold, sweet profile that reflects the spirit of the Texas Hill Country where it is crafted. The 2026 Cowboy Bourbon was bottled at 141 proof, with 16,000 bottles produced.

First released in 2013, Cowboy Bourbon helped put Garrison Brothers—and Texas—on the national bourbon map with its memorable tasting notes and bold presentation. For each Cowboy Bourbon release, Master Distiller Donnis Todd identifies the distillery’s most prized and distinctive barrels, hand-selecting them year after year. The marked barrels are set aside for additional maturation in the extreme Texas climate, resulting in some of the finest bourbon in existence.

2026 Cowboy Bourbon Tasting Notes

At 141 proof, the 2026 Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship and dedication to bourbon-making. Its tasting notes are as bold as they are complex, opening with burnt wood and gun smoke before giving way to a warming finish layered with dried stone fruit and caramelized sugar.

“It comes on strong at first, but the depth of flavor quickly draws you in. A lasting flood of warmth gives way to layers of dried fruit and toasted marshmallows, creating a bold Texas finish that keeps you coming back for another sip,” said Donnis Todd, Master Distiller at Garrison Brothers Distillery.
