Designed to Entice Scotch Drinkers to American Single Malt
Lost Lantern’s Fall 2025 Scotch Lovers’ Collection is designed to entice Scotch drinkers with a lineup of American single malts that echo classic Scotch styles while showcasing American craft.
“While the single malts and blended malts in this Collection are not and could never be Scotch, which can only be made in Scotland, these unique and exceptional whiskies will hold special appeal for Scotch lovers,” said Lost Lantern Co-Founder Adam Polonski. “We worked closely with each of the distilleries in this collection to source truly first-of-their-kind whiskies for this Collection as a way to invite Scotch lovers into American single malt.”
“The Scotch Lovers’ Collection features seven whiskies (two blends and five single casks) that celebrate the craftsmanship and character of single malt through an American lens.” Three of those single malt single barrels come from Triple Eight Distillery on the island of Nantucket, and those are the focus of this review. “The distillery’s traditional methods, long aging times, and the maritime climate of Nantucket make for exquisitely balanced whiskies that truly rank among the finest single malts in the world” according to Lost Lantern. Read on to learn all about the three Triple Eight Single Malt Single Barrels that are part of the collection!

Summary & Comparison of the Lost Lantern Triple Eight Single Malt Single Barrel Bottlings
I am greatly enjoying all three of these single malts. They are all quite delicious, but also quite different from each other.
Lost Lantern Triple Eight Peated Massachusetts Single Malt
Needless to say, the Lost Lantern Triple Eight Peated Massachusetts Single Malt is quite different from the others. While the peat is definitely present and noticeable, it is on the milder side, say compared to something like Laphroaig’s offering, on both the nose and palate, although it does become more pronounced in the fairly dry and tannic finish. There is a briny, maritime undertone, similar to the others. Honey, sweet canned pears and mild spice nicely round out the flavors. I am a fan of peat, so am really enjoying this whiskey, and if you like peat, you’ll likely enjoy it, too!
Lost Lantern Triple Eight Massachusetts Single Malt 10 Years Old
The Lost Lantern Triple Eight Massachusetts Single Malt 10 Years Old offers overall bright flavors, with plenty of sweet and tart fruits balanced by sweet caramel and white pepper spice, along with lingering mild smoky barrel char. There is a background of brininess and maritime character, most noticeable on the nose and palate. The nose is beautiful — I could sit here and smell this whiskey all day.
Lost Lantern Triple Eight Sauternes Cask Aged Massachusetts Single Malt 11 Years Old
The Lost Lantern Triple Eight Sauternes Cask Aged Massachusetts Single Malt 11 Years Old is quite a full-flavored whiskey, and quite different from the ex-bourbon barrel aged 10 year old. While they share some similarities, the 10 year old is brighter and fruitier with lighter, sweeter caramel, whereas the 11 year old has deeper, more syrupy flavors with darker fruit, caramel & toffee and a drier finish. Both have some maritime notes, and both are excellent. I might lean toward the brighter flavors of the 10 year, but you may feel differently.
Conclusion
If you are a single malt fan, one of these three whiskeys should certainly hit the mark for your taste. If you are exclusively a Scotch drinker, you’re probably not reading this. But, if you are, give these a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Have you had any of the Lost Lantern Triple Eight Single Barrel Single Malts? What did you think? I’d love to know! Cheers!🥃
