Background – Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2025 Review
Maker’s Mark continues its annual long-aged release with the 2025 edition of Cellar Aged, now in its third year. The 2025 edition, like its predecessors, aims to showcase deeper, more developed flavors while maintaining the brand’s signature profile. In other words, they wanted to preserve the bourbon’s natural character, without the added tannins and pronounced oak that longer aging often brings. To achieve this, the bourbon was initially fully matured in the warehouse, similar to every Maker’s Mark Bourbon. However, it then finished its aging in the distillery’s limestone cellar, which is a cooler, controlled environment.

Tasting Notes – Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2025 Review
🛏 Rested: 15 minutes in a Glencairn
👉🏻 Nose: The nose is full and rich with sweet cherries, toffee, sweet caramel, a touch of tart orange peel and subtle dry oak. The alcohol vapor is appropriate for the proof.
👉🏻 Taste: Sweet cherries, rich toffee and tart orange citrus fill the palate early on, with milk chocolate appearing later, all on a background of mild oak.
👉🏻 Finish: The finish becomes fairly dry with mild tannins, mild char, and a moderate degree of white pepper spice. It is long, with lingering spice and mild char, with a deep, pleasant warmth.
Summary
Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2025 bourbon starts out on the rich and somewhat decadent side. The confectionary flavors of toffee, sweet caramel, and even a touch of chocolate highlight the nose and palate. Sweet cherries and contrasting tart orange peel add a nice complement, as well. The fairly abrupt change in the finish, to be more dry and spicy, with a touch of barrel char, makes for a nice culmination and readies me for my next sip.
Conclusion – Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2025 Review
I am finding this to be quite an enjoyable pour! Cellar Aged 2025 brings flavors that still have the characteristics of classic Maker’s Mark bourbon but are intensified and show greater depth, with everything turned up a notch throughout the sip. When comparing to prior years, the 2025 release has more similarities to the 2023 release than the 2024 release. However, the 2025 has a bit of a spicier finish than the 2023, but they both have notable confectionary notes. Which one is my favorite might vary day to day, but this one is definitely a strong contender!
