MaltyVerse x MB Roland “No Pressure Whiskey” is a 5-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon that combines MB Roland’s rich pot still character with the MaltyVerse’s immersive comic book theme. Distilled from a mash bill of 78% corn, 17% rye, and 5% malted barley, this bourbon delivers a full, sweet profile with syrupy cornbread, dark berries, and a dry, spicy finish. The Worlds of Premium Spirits and Immersive Storytelling Collide
According to the brand, “The MaltyVerse, from the team behind Barrel Global, invites whisky connoisseurs and storytelling enthusiasts to embark on an unparalleled journey where the worlds of premium spirits and immersive storytelling collide. At the heart of the MaltyVerse is a collection of limited-edition whiskies, each paired with a unique story and comic artwork from illustrator Carl Harrison that elevates the experience of every pour. From Scotland’s storied distilleries to the heart of Kentucky’s bourbon trail, these spirits are handpicked for their rarity, craftsmanship, and ability to transport the drinker into another world.”
“The story of the MaltyVerse is based 100 years in the future where whisky has become a commodity as rare as diamonds and gold. The villains in the MaltyVerse called Drooms are headed by Mr. Neat who are constantly scheming to steal the rare bottles of whisky while the ABV (Agency of Barrel Vigilance) led by Agent W work tirelessly to protect the universe’s most rare liquid. As time goes on, the universe will expand with more characters inspired by other spirits including tequila, mezcal, and rum.”

Tasting Notes – MaltyVerse x MB Roland “No Pressure Whiskey” Review
Let’s taste it:
🛏 Rested for 15 minutes in a Glencairn
👉🏻Nose: Quite sweet and syrupy, sweet corn bread, sweet dark berries; apricot leather candy, alcohol appropriate for the proof
👉🏻Taste: Sweet corn bread, sweet caramel, sweet raspberry jam, pale honey, light butterscotch
👉🏻Finish: Raspberry jam and sweetness fade, lingering light butterscotch and sweet dried apricots; fairly dry, mild white pepper spice and dry wood; moderately long, pleasant warmth
MaltyVerse x MB Roland “No Pressure Whiskey” delivers sweet, syrupy, full flavors right from the start. It’s a delectable combination of sweet cornbread, sweet dark berries and a bit of apricot leather candy. The alcohol vapor is appropriate for the proof.
The taste brings similar flavors with a viscous mouthfeel, sweet cornbread, sweet caramel, raspberry jam, pale honey, and a touch of light butterscotch. Many of those flavors carry into the finish, gradually fading to lingering butterscotch and sweet dried apricots. Those sweeter notes are joined by a mild white pepper spice and dry wood, and the finish grows increasingly dry. The finish is moderately long with the full flavors terminating rather abruptly, but leaving me with a pleasant warmth.
Conclusion
MaltyVerse x MB Roland Distillery “No Pressure Whiskey” has the full flavors, mouthfeel and character that only a pot still bourbon can provide. However, in view of the comic book theme of the MaltyVerse brand, I am assuming that the target audience will be comic book fans that enjoy bourbon, rather than all out bourbon enthusiasts. Therefore, they might not have much experience with this style, and the pot still flavors could take them by surprise if they’re expecting a more mainstream column still bourbon. Nonetheless, for those who are fans of full flavored pot still whiskey, or are looking to expand their bourbon horizons, this should be one that they will enjoy.
Have you tried any of the MaltyVerse whiskeys? What did you think? Cheers!🥃
