A New Everyday Bourbon from Milam & Greene
Milam & Greene Provisions Bourbon is a new addition to the distillery’s portfolio, blending pot-distilled bourbon from Blanco, Texas with Kentucky bourbon distilled by Master Distiller Marlene Holmes and the Milam & Greene Team. The whiskey undergoes Milam & Greene’s unique “Texification” process, in which barrels from Kentucky are brought to Texas for additional aging in the Hill Country climate prior to blending. Bottled at 80 proof, Provisions is positioned as an approachable, versatile bourbon at an accessible price point.

Tasting Notes – Milam & Greene Provisions Bourbon Review
Nose: The nose is sweet and rich with sweet apple juice, subtle cherries and sweet floral notes. The nose is rounded out by creamed corn, tart orange peels, and light caramel. Alcohol vapor is appropriate for the proof.
Taste: The palate is quite sweet with apple juice, simple syrup, sweet light caramel, and sweet corn. Tart orange citrus and white pepper spice develop later on. The mouthfeel is medium-full bodied.
Finish: The finish has lingering apple juice and sweet corn with hints of sweet red berries, mild tart orange citrus, and mild white pepper spice. It is moderately long with lasting sweetness and spice, a hint of char, and mild dry wood.
Summary – Milam & Greene Provisions Bourbon Review
Provisions Bourbon is fruit forward and quite sweet, particularly in the palate, with corn in varying forms also playing a role throughout the sip. Yet, there is also added complexity from tart orange peels and a bit of white pepper spice. In addition, the mildly dry and spicy finish—still with lingering sweetness and fruit—brings the sip to a very pleasant close.
Milam & Greene Provisions Bourbon has a much fuller mouthfeel and nose than I would have expected from its 80 proof. Then again, this is a Texas whiskey, and Texas whiskeys develop quite a bit of flavor and body as they age, more so than in many other climates. In addition, the “Texification” of the Kentucky bourbon significantly changes its characteristics. We learned that from the distillery’s “The Answer” Bourbons, which are a unique side by side comparison of the same distillate aged in both Kentucky and Texas. The Texas climate definitely gave that Kentucky bourbon some strong Texas character.
Conclusion – Milam & Greene Provisions Bourbon Review
If you are looking for a bourbon at the lower end of whiskey’s proof range, but still want plenty of flavor and body, look no more. Milam & Greene Provisions Bourbon offers just that. This is a very enjoyable pour and one that fills a much-needed gap in the range of currently available bourbons. In fact, I’ll always be keeping a bottle on my shelf. Have you tried Milam & Greene Provisions Bourbon? What did you think? Cheers! 🥃
