An 8 Barrel Blend From Kentucky, Tennessee and Texas
Milam & Greene Unabridged Volume 4 is the latest release in the distillery’s Unabridged Series. The series is comprised of bourbons whose components are of different ages and were distilled and aged in different distilleries and climates.
According to the brand, Volume 4 was derived by “pulling barrels aging in different climates before marrying them in Texas heat, defining the Milam & Greene house style of “Texification”. While previous editions of Unabridged were crafted from upward of fifty barrels, Volume 4 represents the smallest yield in the series to date. Eight carefully chosen casks were selected for their remarkable character, and together they revealed a harmony so complete that the blend needed no further expansion.”

Tasting Notes – Milam & Greene Unabridged Bourbon Volume 4 Review
Let’s taste it:
🛏 Rested: 15 minutes in a Glencairn
👉🏻 Nose: Mildly sweet with sweet caramel & toffee; dark cherries, mild leather, orange citrus and dry oak; alcohol vapor is noticeable but is appropriate for the proof
👉🏻 Taste: Moderately sweet with caramel, toffee, dark cherries, white pepper, mild rye spices and orange citrus
👉🏻 Finish: Hints of dark cherries linger; rapidly becomes fairly dry and spicy; mild tannins, tart orange citrus, white pepper spice, mild char and dry wood later on; long; spice, tart citrus and mild char linger to the end
Summary
Milam & Greene Unabridged Volume 4 is a full-bodied bourbon with a very enjoyable layered complexity, progressing from a somewhat sweet and rich nose to a fairly dry and spicy finish. I really enjoy a bourbon with confectionary notes, and they are definitely present in the nose and palate. While I would expect some spice in the finish given the relatively high proof, the finish was also drier than I would have anticipated in view of the degree of sweetness in the nose and palate.
Conclusion – Milam & Greene Unabridged Bourbon Volume 4 Review
Overall, Milam & Greene Unabridged Volume 4 hits all the right notes for me. If you’re a fan of full-bodied, rich, complex bourbons, then this is one that you’ll want to try. Have you had Milam & Greene Unabridged Volume 4? What did you think? Cheers!🥃
