Redemption Whiskey Unveils New Packaging and 92 Proof Bourbon

Redemption Whiskey has announced a brand relaunch featuring “bold new packaging” and an updated portfolio, including its Straight Bourbon now bottled at 92 proof, up from its previous 88 proof. The refreshed lineup also includes its signature Rye (92 proof) and High Rye Bourbon (92 proof) expressions. The new bottle design, highlighted by an eagle motif with rye, was developed following a trademark dispute initiated by a competitor, which prompted the brand to reimagine its identity and packaging. The updated portfolio has already begun to roll out nationally in 750ml bottles, with a suggested retail price starting at $29.99. Read the press release here.

Editor’s note: The trademark dispute referenced relates to a now-resolved case in which Diageo claimed Redemption’s 2016 bottle redesign (canteen-shaped, embossed glass, lower-placed label) was too similar to the distinctive look of Bulleit. While this appears to be a central point in the press release, most consumers are likely unfamiliar with the dispute. Additionally, Redemption has historically sourced its whiskey from MGP in Indiana, which is not mentioned here. While sourcing is common across the industry, transparency around it has become increasingly important to many whiskey enthusiasts, so I find this omission surprising.

Oscar Mayer Launches Maple Bourbon Bacon In Partnership With Evan Williams

Oscar Mayer has introduced Maple Bourbon Bacon, its first bacon innovation in five years, created in partnership with Evan Williams Bourbon. The thick-cut bacon is cured with bourbon and finished with a 12-hour slow smoke, delivering subtle notes of vanilla and caramel from the barrel-aged Kentucky bourbon. Overall, it “delivers a sweet, smoky maple-kissed savory bite with a smooth bourbon-inspired finish.” The release taps into growing demand for maple and bourbon flavors, as recipes featuring the combination have surged in popularity in recent years. Maple Bourbon Bacon also kicks off a new innovation cycle for the brand, which plans to introduce a new variety each year through limited-edition launches and potential permanent additions to its portfolio. The product is rolling out nationwide; pricing was not disclosed. Read the press release here.

Buffalo Trace Single Oak Rye Bourbon

Buffalo Trace Distillery has introduced Single Oak Rye Bourbon, the inaugural release of a new permanent brand based on the consumer-selected Barrel #80 from the long-running Single Oak Project. The experiment, which began in 1999, explored seven variables across 192 unique barrels, with consumers ultimately selecting Barrel #80 as the standout expression. This release “faithfully recreates the precise mashbill and barrel aging conditions that defined the celebrated Barrel #80,” offering the result of one of the Distillery’s most comprehensive bourbon studies.

Single Oak Project Barrel #80 entered the barrel at 125 proof and was aged in oak harvested from the bottom half of the tree, featuring average grain wood, staves seasoned for 12 months and charred at a level four. The bourbon was aged in a concrete floor warehouse for eight years before bottling at 90 proof.

The 375ml release became available in limited quantities beginning in April 2026 through Sazerac’s national distributor network and the Buffalo Trace Distillery Gift Shop at a suggested retail price of $74.99. Read the press release here.

Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection: Low Entry Proof Wheated Bourbon

Buffalo Trace Distillery has also announced the 28th release in its Experimental Collection, Low Entry Proof Wheated Bourbon Whiskey. This release “explores how lower barrel entry proof influences wood interaction over extended aging.” For this expression, the distillate entered the barrel at 105 proof, compared to the traditional 114 proof used for Buffalo Trace’s wheated bourbons. While previous Experimental Collection releases are bottled at 90 proof, this expression is bottled at 107 proof “to better capture and highlight the bourbon’s complex flavor profile.” Described as “a first of its kind innovation, examining the impact of barrel entry proof on flavor development,” the 375ml release will be available in limited quantities beginning in April at a suggested retail price of $46.99. Editor’s note: Buffalo Trace is taking a little bit of a poetic license saying it’s “a first of its kind innovation, examining the impact of barrel entry proof on flavor development.” That’s literally what Maker’s Mark did with their DNA Project. That project started in 2013, with the bottles released in 2021. Since the Experimental Collection began in 2006, technically it might have been the first, but I think a nod to Maker’s is due here.

Cedar Ridge Pete & Sherri Married — 2nd Anniversary

Cedar Ridge Distillery has announced the release of Pete & Sherri Married — 2nd Anniversary, the third installment in its Pete & Sherri Married series and part of the QuintEssential Special Release series, which highlights “one-of-a-kind American Single Malt marriages created by Master Blender Murphy Quint.” This limited-edition release is a blend of 6 to 9-year-old single malts, bottled at natural cask strength of 116.8 proof (58.4% ABV), with no chill filtration and no color added.

The expression features “2-Row Pale Malted Barley first aged in Cedar Ridge ex-bourbon barrels and finished in Pedro Ximénez & Oloroso Sherry Hogsheads, blended with Peated Malt aged in Cedar Ridge ex-bourbon barrels and finished in Amontillado Sherry Butts.”

The Pete & Sherri Married series debuted in 2019. The 2nd Anniversary release will be available beginning May 1, 2026, for a suggested retail price of $99.99 for a 750ml bottle, with availability in Iowa and online at cedarridgedistillery.com. Castle & Key 2026 Experimental Series Rye Whiskey Finished in Cherry Liqueur Casks from Ukraine

Castle & Key Distillery has released the first in their 2026 Experimental Series, Cask Finish Series Rye Whiskey Finished in Cherry Liqueur Casks, an experimental expression built on its Restoration Rye. The whiskey uses a mash bill of 63% rye, 17% yellow corn, and 20% malted barley, and is finished for an extended 27 months in cherry liqueur casks from Ukraine, one of the longest finishing periods the distillery has undertaken.

The release is bottled at 115.2 proof (57.6% ABV) at cask strength. The cherry liqueur finishing is described as drawing from a tradition of “sour cherries macerated in spirit, slowly, over time,” contributing to the whiskey’s profile.

This limited experimental release was produced from just two barrels and is expected to be available primarily (solely?) at the Boiler Room at the distillery and at their Louisville outpost, Castle & Key 502. Pricing has not been disclosed. Source: Huntsman Heritage and Castle & Key.

Larrikin Officer Daniel Neil Ellis – Law Enforcement Memorial Blend Bourbon

Larrikin Bourbon Co. has released the Law Enforcement Memorial Blend – Officer Daniel Neil Ellis Kentucky Straight Bourbon. From the distillery website, “This limited release was created in honor of Officer Daniel Ellis, who gave his life in the line of duty in 2015. We proudly remember his courage, dedication, and service to his community.” The bourbon features a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley, and is aged for 8 years and bottled at 116 proof.

The release is limited to just 100 bottles, with $25 from each bottle benefiting The Daniel Ellis Foundation. Bottles are priced at $99, and are available now at the distillery or they can be ordered online via the Larrikin website gift shop page for pickup. larrikinbourbon.com.

Knob Creek Blender’s Edition 01

Knob Creek has introduced Blender’s Edition 01, the first release in a new limited series focused on the art of blending. For this inaugural edition, Master Distiller Freddie Noe and his team “carefully hand-selected barrels to highlight the sweeter side of the Knob Creek flavor profile.” The bourbon is aged a minimum of 10 years and bottled at 106 proof. Knob Creek Blender’s Edition 01 is now available nationwide at a suggested retail price of $44.99 for a 750ml bottle. knobcreek.com

Editor’s note: This bourbon started appearing over a month ago, yet the press release only arrived last week. In a way, that worked out well, since we had no preconceived notions when we bought a bottle a few weeks back and tried it. Everyone liked it, but agreed it was different from the usual Knob Creek flavor profile, and noticeably sweeter. Now we know that is exactly what they were going for. Job well done!

Oak & Age Founder’s Pick Single Barrel Bourbon Releases

Oak & Age has released its first Founders Pick single barrels, introduced at a launch event on April 2 at Watch Hill Proper in Prospect, Kentucky, where co-founders Dan Leader and Aaron Rothke poured samples for attendees. Both releases are single barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbons, bottled at barrel proof and hand-selected by the founders.

The first release is an 18 year Kentucky Straight Bourbon from Bardstown, KY (Barrel #2), bottled at 125.8 proof. The mash bill is 74% corn, 18% rye, and 8% malted barley. The 750ml release is priced at $399.99.

The second release is an 8 year Kentucky Straight Bourbon from Lawrenceburg, KY (Barrel #12), bottled at 114.9 proof. The mash bill is 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley. The 750ml release is priced at $79.99.

Angel’s Envy Unveils 2026 Cask Strength Bourbon and 10-Year Rye

Angel’s Envy has announced its 2026 Cask Strength Dual Release, featuring the return of its annual Cask Strength Bourbon alongside the debut of its first age-stated rye at cask strength, the 10-Year Cask Strength Rye.

The bourbon is bottled at 117.8 proof and finished in Ruby Port barrels for up to three years, while the rye is bottled at 111.6 proof and aged for a combined total of at least ten years, including finishing in Caribbean rum casks for up to four years. The bourbon will retail for $249.99 with approximately 20,640 bottles released nationwide and an additional 1,446 bottles available internationally, while the rye will retail for $269.99 with approximately 10,800 bottles available exclusively in the U.S. Both releases will be available beginning April 17, 2026. Gambit No. 6 Bourbon

Foley Family Wines & Spirits has introduced Gambit No. 6, a 6-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon developed by Master Distiller for Innovation Chip Tate and featuring six distinct barrel finishes: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Apple Brandy, Muscatel, Oloroso Sherry, and Tokaji.

The bourbon uses a mash bill of 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley. To create the blend, approximately 15% of the whiskey was finished for 19 months in Cabernet Sauvignon American Oak barrels sourced from Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery’s PreVail Wines, while roughly 85% was finished for three months in Chardonnay French Oak casks sourced from the same vineyard. The Chardonnay-finished portion was then divided among Oloroso Sherry, Muscatel, Apple Brandy, and Tokaji barrels and aged for an additional 12 to 16 months before blending. The barrels were housed at the Minden Mill Distillery near Lake Tahoe, NV.

Gambit No. 6 is bottled at 92 proof, is non-chill-filtered, and is priced at $69.99. It is available at retail locations in California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Texas, and Washington, and online at gambit6.com where shipping is permitted.

Four Roses Single Barrel Collection 2026

Last year Four Roses introduced the Single Barrel Collection and released 3 recipes as single barrels, in addition to the OBSV which is a consistent member of their main line up. They were all bottled at 100 proof, in distinction from the Barrel Strength Single Barrels which are usually found as store picks. The recipes for this year have been announced: OBSK, OESQ, and OESF, all aged 7-9 years. No additional details are available at this time, but the bourbons are again presumably going to be bottled at 100 proof. Last year these were priced at ~$50 per bottle, so presumably the 2026 collection will be in the same price ballpark. fourrosesbourbon.com

New Riff DUET American Whiskey In Harmony With Rhinegeist

Two of the Greater Cincinnati area’s most beloved beverage makers are working in concert to debut DUET American Whiskey, a collaboration between New Riff Distilling and Rhinegeist Brewing. DUET is a collaborative release focused on barley, a primary grain in both whiskey and beer production. The whiskey features an unusual mash bill of 57% malted barley, 37% raw barley, and 6% rye and is aged at least 6 years and bottled at 111.2 proof.

The whiskey was primarily aged in new American oak barrels, with select portions aged in Spanish oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The final blend was “married together in a massive foeder used for beer maturation,” then re-barreled into used American oak barrels for further maturation.

DUET American Whiskey became available beginning April 10 at New Riff’s gift shop and select retailers in Ohio and Kentucky for a suggested retail price of $79.99. It will also be available by the pour at The Aquifer Tasting Room at New Riff Distillery and at Rhinegeist’s Tap Room and online for in-store pick up at the distillery. Basil Hayden Introduces Golden Rye and New Tiered Portfolio

Basil Hayden has announced a portfolio restructuring built around a three-tier system, alongside the introduction of Golden Rye (80 proof, SRP: $36.99), a new permanent addition to its lineup. Golden Rye is “crafted from the same 100% malted rye mash bill that Basil Hayden fans know and love,” delivering notes of toasted rye, warm spice and delicate florals in what the brand describes as a “mellow yet defined profile.” The new release anchors the brand’s “Core” tier focused on versatility and approachability. basilhaydenbourbon.com

Editor’s note: Golden Rye appears to be a rebranding of Basil Hayden Malted Rye, although that is not explicitly stated. The brand instead notes it is “crafted from the same mash bill Basil Hayden fans know and love,” describing it as a strategic evolution within the portfolio. I was a fan of the Malted Rye when it was first introduced. The malted rye adds body that is otherwise difficult to achieve at 80 proof. I last reviewed the Malted Rye in January 2024. Casey Jones Revere Bourbon

Casey Jones Distillery has introduced Revere Bourbon, a 5-year-old small batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon released in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. The bourbon features a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley, is aged for five years in American white oak, and is bottled at 100 proof.

The release debuted April 10 at the “Spirit of Revolution” event at the distillery in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Revere Bourbon is being released as a limited first edition.

Chattanooga Whiskey Founder’s 14th Anniversary Blend

Chattanooga Whiskey has released its Founder’s 14th Anniversary Blend, a blend created each year by founder Tim Piersant. The blend uses whiskeys from three separate charred oak solera barrels, representing the distillery’s past, present, and future. After each year’s blend is removed, the barrels are refilled with newly matured whiskey to continue the solera process. The batch size is 9-11 barrels.

  Represents the mash bill that helped establish the brand

Editor’s note: The exact composition of this whiskey is a bit difficult to determine because there are a few differences in the Solera barrel components listed on the brand website versus those mentioned in the press release posted on various sites.

Old Grand-Dad 114 Single Barrel 7 Year Bourbon

This bourbon appeared completely unannounced without any press release, and I have essentially no details about it. However, we did chance upon a bottle of it at our local retailer, so Dean and I had a chance to taste it and review it. It definitely drinks differently than the standard Old Grand-Dad 114. Woodinville Whiskey Updated Bottle Design And Age Statement

Woodinville Whiskey has recently introduced an updated and refreshed bottle design. The bottle features two different textures of glass, “the clear and refined upper part representing the purity and terroir of Woodinville where the whiskey is distilled, and the rugged lower half representing the dramatic climates of Quincy where the whiskey is matured.” “The Woodinville bottle has been iconic for over a decade and has represented the true craft and passion that we put into every bottle. But as we evolve into older whiskies and exciting new releases, we felt it was time to evolve our package to match the distinguished products within them, and this striking bottle delivers,” says Woodinville co-founder Orlin Sorensen.

All four flagship whiskeys will feature the new design, along with an updated 6 year age statement on the bottle: Woodinville Straight Bourbon Aged 6 Years (90 proof, $39.99), Woodinville Straight 100% Rye Aged 6 Years (90 proof, $39.99), Woodinville Port Finish Bourbon (90 proof, $44.99), and Woodinville Applewood Finish Bourbon (90 proof, $44.99). woodinvillewhiskeyco.com.
