19 New Bourbon (and Other Whiskeys) Releases + BTAC for October 17, 2025

We have a lot of new bourbons and other whiskeys again in this week’s New Bourbon Releases News! I would have thought that it would have slowed down a bit by now, but they keep going strong!

But First, Here’s What’s New on BourbonObsessed.com!

  • Angel’s Envy Peated Cask Rye Review
Angel’s Envy Peated Cask Rye brings together Kentucky rye and Islay peat in a bold, distinctive expression uniquely proofed with petit eaux. The peat smoke is present, but not overbearing, and blends very well with the rye. I am a fan! Distillery Only. Learn more in my full review.
  • Middle West Spirits Dark Pumpernickel Rye Review
Middle West Spirits Dark Pumpernickel Rye is a 4-grain straight rye whiskey made with dark pumpernickel rye and aged at least four years. It had been a few years since I last tried this expression, and am enjoying it. Learn more in my full review.
  • Chicken Cock Miller’s Reserve American Whiskey Review
Chicken Cock Miller’s Reserve American Whiskey pays tribute to founder James A. Miller’s barrels which were lost in the 1860 sinking of the A.O. Tyler. This 115-proof blend is crafted from whiskeys distilled in four Ohio River states. It has full flavors and complexity, making it a very enjoyable pour. Learn more in my full review.

New Bourbon Releases

Smokeye Hill Whiskey Introduces Barrel Proof Straight Rye Whiskey

Smokeye Hill Barrel Proof Straight Rye Whiskey is a bold new release and the brand’s first rye whiskey expression. Distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and aged for five years in char 2,3 & 4 30-gallon American oak casks in Colorado Springs, this rye features a proprietary four-grain mash bill: rye, heirloom blue corn, yellow corn, and malted barley. Bottled at barrel proof (131.2–131.7), the small-batch release totals fewer than 1,400 cases. It will be available for $89.99 in select stores across Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Nevada, Washington, and Texas, as well as nationwide online through Seelbachs, Spirits Network, and Keg N Bottle. Read the full press release.

(Editor’s note: I am a bit confused by the labelling of this whiskey as a Straight Rye Whiskey. The press release states “Our Barrel Proof Rye spends five years aging to develop depth and complexity, before a percentage of our flagship bourbon is blended in….” Since they blended in bourbon, this could be classified as “A Blend of Straight Whiskeys” or even “Blended Whiskey” or even “Blended Rye Whiskey”. But a Straight Rye Whiskey, not so much. Am I missing something here? Or maybe that section in the press release is incorrect? I have reached out to the brand for clarity. Nonetheless, it sounds like an interesting pour. UPDATE 10/26: I have received confirmation from the brand that this is a Blended Rye, not at Straight Rye.)

Sagamore Spirit Debuts Their First Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Sagamore Spirit has announced the release of their first High Rye Straight Bourbon Whiskey, crafted with a mash bill of 60% corn, 25% rye, and 15% malted rye. Aged for 6 years in new charred American white oak barrels and bottled at 118 proof (59% ABV), this release is part of the Sagamore Spirit Reserve Series and celebrates the brand’s combination of Maryland rye heritage and modern bourbon craftsmanship. Available in October for $49 at the Baltimore distillery and select Baltimore retailers. Read the full press release.

(Editors note: This is very exciting and surprising news! I had heard that Sagamore Spirit, known for their rye whiskeys, had distilled some bourbons. However, I did not know of plans for their release and thought they were being sold to others on a sourced/contract basis. I would love to try this, but alas, it is only available in the Baltimore area. Maybe if it is well-received, we’ll see it distributed nationwide?)

The Ingram Distillery Introduces 2025 Flagship Bourbon

The Ingram Distillery has announced its 2025 Flagship Bourbon, the fifth edition in their annual release series showcasing their unique river-aging process. This year’s release is a micro batch, blended from just eight high-rye bourbon barrels with a mashbill of 36% rye, 60% corn, and 4% malted barley. Bottled at 116.5 proof, this ultra-limited bourbon follows the recent release of their Uncharted Wheated Bourbon, the brands first wheated bourbon, and their expanded distribution into Alaska and Texas. Suggested retail price is $79.99. The release is available in Alaska, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin, as well as online via Seelbach’s. New Bourbon Releases For October 17, 2025

Old Commonwealth D.H. Cromwell Batch 2

Old Commonwealth returns with D.H. Cromwell Batch 2, a 15-year Kentucky Straight Bourbon finished for 10 months in new charred oak barrels from Kelvin Cooperage — twice as long as Batch 1. Using the same mash bill (75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley), this release amplifies the red fruit and creamy depth that defined its predecessor while preserving balance and avoiding being over-oaked, according to the brand. Bottled at 105.5 proof and priced at $299, Batch 2 arrives October 23, 2025, alongside the forthcoming Kentucky Nectar Founder’s Pick 3. Old McBrayer 8-Year-Old Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon

McBrayer Legacy Spirits revives one of Kentucky’s historic bourbon names with the release of Old McBrayer 8-Year-Old Bottled-in-Bond. Aged eight years and bottled at 100 proof, this expression honors the 19th-century distillery founded by Captain J.H. McBrayer and later led by W.H. McBrayer. The label bears the revived trademark “A Favorite of Old Kentucky”—a phrase that appeared in Old McBrayer advertising from the 1940s and 1950s, brought back to celebrate the brand’s heritage and future. Crafted from a mash bill of 70% corn, 18% rye, and 12% malted barley, the batch is limited to 2,600 bottles. Their Legacy Club members receive exclusive purchase access beginning Saturday, October 18 at 7 a.m. EST (one email listed 7 p.m.). For additional information and to join the Legacy Club go to mcbrayerlegacyspirits.com.

Pursuit United Kodama Mizunara Bourbon

Pursuit Spirits has unveiled Pursuit United Kodama Mizunara Bourbon, a limited-edition blend of two lots of whiskey built on the brand’s signature Triple Mash Bourbon base. Each lot was finished differently—one with rare Japanese Mizunara oak, known for its exotic spice and dry, woody character, and the other with infrared-toasted American oak, which imparts rich vanilla and sweetness. The resulting blend combines these two distinctive oak influences for a bold and complex profile. Bottled at 117 proof and priced at $89.99, the bourbon became available beginning October 11, 2025, exclusively at Pursuit Spirits’ Whiskey Row location. pursuitspirits.com.

Woodford Reserve 2025 Holiday Bottle

Woodford Reserve has unveiled its 2025 Holiday Bottle, a limited 1-liter release of Distiller’s Select Bourbon bottled at 90.4 proof and priced at $52.99. This year’s design features artwork by fashion designer Alexandra O’Neill, founder of the luxury brand Markarian, marking the first time Woodford Reserve has collaborated with a fashion designer for its annual holiday edition. The label blends vintage influences with modern sophistication, showcasing a garland stripe of winter berries and stars set against a muted sage background—a look O’Neill described as “a beautifully wrapped gift—precious and celebratory.” The bottle is available nationwide, online with shipping to limited states, and at the Woodford Reserve Distillery, which offers complimentary engraving with purchase. woodfordreserve.com.

Chattanooga Whiskey Bottled in Bond: Fall 2021 Vintage

Chattanooga Whiskey has announced the release of Bottled in Bond: Fall 2021 Vintage, which arrived at the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery on Thursday, October 16, for $52.99 and in select states soon after. The bourbon is a blend of four mash bills—30% SB091, 20% B005, 30% SB055, and 20% SB104—all distilled and barreled between July and December 2021, then aged more than four years in toasted and charred 53-gallon oak barrels. Bottled at 100 proof in small batches of 10–12 barrels, the Fall 2021 Vintage highlights the new SB104 recipe, which adds bright spice, subtle fruit, and baked-pastry richness to the series’ signature profile. They describe it as taking the other 3 mash bills, brushing them with a fruit glaze, and then baking them like a cake. Limited quantities will also be available on Seelbachs.com. chattanoogawhiskey.com

Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Inaugural Specialty Barrel Series Announced – Chinquapin Oak

The 2025 Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Specialty Barrel Series‘ inaugural release includes three six-year-old whiskeys aged in Chinquapin Oak barrels: a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon Whiskey (both bottled at 105 proof), and a Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey (bottled at 107 proof). Each was barreled at 107 proof and is bottled non-chill filtered. These whiskeys are an extension of Heaven Hill’s Grain to Glass line, which is crafted from locally grown grain, a unique Beck’s corn hybrid, and mash bills that set them apart from Heaven Hill’s flagship whiskeys.  Bottles will be available nationally beginning in November 2025 (and are currently available at the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience and/or Heaven Hill Springs Distillery, although likely on a limited basis – so check before you go) at an MSRP of $129.99. Read the full press release.

Happenstance Whiskey Single Barrel Bourbon

Happenstance Whiskey, Nashville’s 100% women-owned and women-led whiskey company, has unveiled its first portfolio expansion with the release of Happenstance Single Barrel Bourbon. Following the brand’s award-winning Founder’s Edition, this 9-year-old straight bourbon is distilled in Kentucky and bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV). Old Overholt Extra Aged Cask Strength 12-Year Rye

The James B. Beam Distilling Company has released Old Overholt Extra Aged Cask Strength 12-Year Rye, a limited-edition, unfiltered Kentucky-style rye whiskey. Distilled and barreled in the spring of 2013, it was aged 12 years across four warehouses in Clermont, Kentucky. Bottled at cask strength ranging from 53–65% ABV and priced at $109.99 for a 750mL bottle, this release marks the oldest expression in the Old Overholt Extra Aged Cask Strength series to date, following previous 10- and 11-year old editions. Read my full review here. beamdistilling.com

Russell’s Reserve Single Rickhouse Collection – Camp Nelson E

Russell’s Reserve introduces the fourth release in its Single Rickhouse Collection: Camp Nelson E, aged in one of the distillery’s coolest rickhouse environments. Built in 1946 and located near the Kentucky River, Camp Nelson E offers shade, airflow, and a unique microclimate. Master Distiller Eddie Russell selected barrels exclusively from the fifth floor, known for slow, nuanced aging. The 2025 release is bottled at 128 proof — the highest for any Russell’s Reserve bottling — and is non-chill filtered. Now available in select U.S. markets and at the Wild Turkey Visitor Center (according to the press release) for $300 per 750 mL. It will also be featured as part of a special vertical tasting of the Single Rickhouse Collection on October 27, 2025, hosted by Associate Master Blender Bruce Russell. Read the full press release.

(Editor’s Note: While I have not been out to the Wild Turkey Visitor Center to confirm availability, I find it highly unlikely that the bottles are readily available. I would suspect that there will be defined release times that will draw crowds of people; however, I do not know this for a fact. If you have seen this bottle at the visitor center, please let me know. Likewise, I would assume that the tickets for the vertical tasting will be extremely difficult to obtain. But, it does sound like it will be a great event!)

And, last but not least – this just in from the Prohibition Craft Spirits Facebook page:

Hazelbaker High Proof 7-Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Prohibition Craft Spirits, the team behind the NULU Whiskey brand, has announced the launch of Hazelbaker High Proof 7-Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon, a single barrel (I believe from an earlier post) expression under the Hazelbaker label. Distilled in Kentucky with a mash bill of 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley, the bourbon was aged for over seven years in char #3 barrels—first spending more than six years on the fifth or sixth floor of a rickhouse before undergoing heat cycling in Prohibition Spirits’ own warehouse, where it was aged to maturity. Bottled at cask strength (typically above 130 proof), the bourbon will reportedly retail for around $75 and makes it debut today, Friday October 17!
