The Bourbon Heritage Center
Anyone who has been to the Heaven Hill Bourbon Heritage Center in Bardstown, Kentucky lately has certainly noticed all the expansion going on. One of the first things people will see is the very large New Heaven Hill Distillery Rickhouse. On the opposite side of the street, the visitor center is being renovated and expanded, with the first phase now complete. The renovated visitor center features an expanded gift shop and new tasting rooms. Phase two of the expansion and renovation is currently under way.
Heaven Hill Rickhouse
In addition to the expansion of the visitor center, Heaven Hill Distillery is also increasing their barrel storing capacity. They are starting to fill their newest rickhouse, which is located directly across from the visitor center and has a capacity of 52,000 barrels. It also has an area with floor to almost ceiling windows at one of the corners. In the future, this section of the warehouse will be where barrel picks will take place. There are plans to build two additional new warehouses on the site, with a capacity of 57,000 barrels each. Heaven Hill has 1.9 million barrels of bourbon aging as of March 2021.
We were fortunate enough to be able to take a peek inside the New Heaven Hill Distillery Rickhouse this week, thanks to Bernie Lubbers. I hope you enjoy this 58 second video.
