Press Release

The new liquid is the first North American Non-Chill Filtered Whiskey in the Orphan Barrel line-up.
NEW YORK, March 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Orphan Barrel presents a new liquid within its collection: Fanged Pursuit Kentucky Straight Bourbon Aged 17 Years. This introduction marks the first North American non-chill filtered Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey to be introduced in the Orphan Barrel collection. The Fanged Pursuit label artwork captures the essence of the liquid within, showcasing a lone Kentucky bobcat silently prowling its native Bluegrass State’s forests. This label mirrors the bourbon’s aging process—unfolding with slow and careful precision, driven by a harmonious relationship with its environment to reach its remarkable potential.

Aged to Perfection: 17-Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Influenced by the heartland of Kentucky Bourbon and years of whiskey-making expertise, this untamed spirit is aged to perfection in charred American Oak barrels for 17 years, resulting in an exquisite Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. As a non-chill filtered whiskey, Fanged Pursuit offers a richer taste by retaining fats, proteins, and oils that are removed during chill filtering. This process adds complexity, enhancing flavor, aroma, and mouthfeel, while preventing chill haze.
A Symbol of Artistry and Evolution
“Fanged Pursuit is a standout for those who savor the artistry and depth of American bourbon-making,” said Fanged Pursuit Lead Blender Delicia James. “The bobcat proudly symbolizes not only the spirit of the bourbon itself, but also the continuous evolution of the Orphan Barrel collection, highlighting the distinct character of each release and the unique story behind every bottle.”
Tasting Notes and Mashbill
Crafted from a carefully selected mashbill of 68-74% corn, 18-22% rye, and 8-10% malted barley, Fanged Pursuit delights with:
- Aromas: Vanilla, red cherries, and honey
- Palate: Toasted oak, orchard fruits, and spices
- Mouthfeel: Velvety smooth
- Proof: 92
Just as a bobcat is rare to spot in the wild, often seen only in glimpses during the dawn or dusk hours, Fanged Pursuit offers a fleeting presence as it’s only to be made once and never again.
Availability and Pricing
This special edition bottle is available at select spirits retailers nationwide with a suggested retail price of $200 for 750mL. It became available for purchase exclusively in the U.S. on March 1, 2025. Fanged Pursuit can also be purchased on ReserveBar, where shipping and delivery options are available.
