Pursuit United Bourbon is the latest release from Pursuit Spirits. According to the Pursuit Spirits website: “The Pursuit United Story: This pursuit is an adventure in seeking bold flavors. As whiskey enthusiasts, we hunt for hidden gems waiting to be discovered. The selected barrels of high rye and wheated bourbons were united to create an uncommon whiskey that has both spicy and fruity characteristics. A blend of mash bills to deliver a standout whiskey experience. Enjoy this pursuit.”

From the Guys at Bourbon Pursuit

Pursuit United Bourbon was brought to us by the guys at the Bourbon Pursuit podcast – Kenny and Ryan. As some of you might know, they started their own business as an NDP (Non-Distiller (or Non-Distilling) Producer) a while back, and have been selling their whiskeys as the Pursuit Series, Episodes 1 – 39. I have had a number of these over the years, and they really are quite good. These guys have a knack for selecting good whiskeys. Pursuit United is their latest venture. They have created their own blended whiskey using three different whiskeys: A bourbon from the Bardstown Bourbon Company, a wheated bourbon from Finger Lakes Distilling and a bourbon from an undisclosed Tennessee distillery, which they state is not in Tullahoma, and therefore not George Dickel. The age range of the component bourbons is 4-5 years old.

Tasting Notes – Pursuit United Bourbon Review

Let’s taste it:

🛌 Rested for 20 minutes in a Glencairn

👉Nose: Rye spices, caramel, toffee, leather, raspberry jam and a hint of maple; moderate alcohol
👉Taste: Caramel, there’s still fruit but it’s different – a mandarin orange maybe?, mild sweetness, maple syrup, mild char
👉Finish: The flavors continue and pick up some dryness, more char and oak with a hint of tangerine. Fairly long finish with a moderate burn.

Summary

The nose is full and rich, and the taste full bodied. I would say that this was a successful pursuit. Pursuit United Bourbon does deliver the bold flavors as promised, and I am quite impressed with the flavor of this first blending attempt by Kenny & Ryan. I am assuming they had a little help, but either way, its a very enjoyable bourbon. Have you tried this bourbon? What did you think? Cheers!🥃
