Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur is Built Around Their The First Cut Irish Whiskey
Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur is built around the brand’s own The First Cut Signature Blend Irish Whiskey, a 4+ year-old blend of grain whiskey, pot still whiskey, double malt, and a small portion of peated malt. The liqueur also incorporates Irish double cream from Tipperary, selected for its richness and texture.
Irish Cream regulations require a minimum of 1% Irish whiskey in the finished product. Two Stacks cites internal benchmarking indicating that this liqueur contains approximately 8.75% Irish whiskey, versus “leading brands at approximately 1%.” While most producers do not disclose their exact whiskey percentages, Two Stacks provides this figure to give context to the whiskey forward composition of their spirit.

Tasting Notes – Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur Review
A small group of us tasted the Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur neat and in Irish Coffee made with the recipe provided by the brand.
Neat
🛏 Rested for 15 minutes in a Glencairn
👉🏻Nose: Rich cream with more subtle Irish whiskey. One taster also noted a hint of Luxardo-style cherries.
👉🏻Taste: Sweet cherry notes (picked up by two tasters) alongside rich cream. The Irish whiskey character is fairly mild, but present. The mouthfeel was full and coating.
👉🏻Finish: Lingering Irish whiskey with a mild tartness.
Overall, Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur was a very enjoyable sip. We did not do a side by side comparison, but if memory serves, it seems more balanced and a bit less rich or sweet than other Irish cream liqueurs that I have tried. The brand has also succeeded in making the whiskey’s presence known, without it being at all overbearing.
Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur in Irish Coffee
Ultimate Irish Coffee – Brand Recipe
- 1 oz Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur
- 3.5 oz freshly brewed coffee
- Whipped Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur
Method (per brand): In a Nick and Nora glass, add Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur and then coffee. Top with whipped Two Stacks Double Irish Cream and freshly ground nutmeg. To create the whip, combine Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur and heavy whipping cream in a 3:1 ratio.
Our Experience with the Irish Coffee
I followed the recipe provided by the brand, using 3.5 oz of coffee and 1 oz of Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur, topped with whipped cream made from Two Stacks Double Irish Cream and heavy whipping cream. The recipe states to use a 3:1 ratio of Double Irish Cream to heavy cream, but we were not able to get that mixture to thicken. We suspected the ratio might have been reversed, so we used 1 part Two Stacks Double Irish Cream to 3 parts heavy whipping cream instead. It turned out great.
At 35 proof, the whiskey in the whipped cream and coffee makes itself known, but it is still nicely balanced with the coffee and cream. There is a pleasant richness from the relatively high butterfat content, yet the richness is not overbearing. We also noted a hint of cinnamon, and a touch of spice was added by the dash of nutmeg. If you are a fan of Irish Coffee and/or Irish cream liqueur, I think you’ll enjoy this delicious, balanced spirit.
Conclusion – Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur Review
Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur offers a well-balanced, whiskey-forward profile that stands apart from many traditional Irish creams. The neat pour shows rich cream, present but not overly dominant whiskey, and light cherry notes, with a full rich mouthfeel and lingering whiskey in the finish. Used in an Irish Coffee, the whiskey character becomes more pronounced while remaining harmoniously integrated with the cream and coffee. The higher butterfat content adds welcome richness without overwhelming the drink, and the hint of spice from nutmeg compliments the other flavors beautifully. Whether sipped on its own or used in the brand’s Irish Coffee recipe, this is a very balanced and enjoyable Irish Cream Liqueur.
Have you tried Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur or any of their other whiskeys? What did you think? Cheers!🥃
