Fresh Bourbon Distilling Co. to open a distillery in Lexington’s Distillery District
Let’s all welcome a new distillery!
Thank you very much for including us at your announcement event and inaugural bourbon tasting last night! Thanks to Fresh Bourbon Distilling Co. and The Kentucky Black Bourbon Guild for the invitations and to the folks at Hartfield and Co for making the bourbon a reality, and to Creaux for hosting the event!
According to Kentucky.gov: “A Lexington native, Edwards registered the company in 2017 with the goal of establishing a premier, African American owned bourbon brand and opening a distillery in his hometown.”
Sean Edwards, along with his wife Tia, founded Fresh Bourbon Distilling Co. Here’s what he had to say about their new distillery: “For nearly three years, we have been diligently developing an authentic and unique bourbon and spirits line. We chose not to buy bourbon from someone else and just place our name on a bottle. We have been very intentional and deliberate in crafting our spirits – from the mash bills up – and also our Fresh Bourbon team, including in selecting our master distiller, the first African American master distiller in Kentucky since slavery. We are excited to receive economic incentives from the State of Kentucky to build our distillery and share with the world what we have created.” (source: https://kentucky.gov/Pages/Activity-stream.aspx?n=GovernorBeshear&prId=41)
Fresh Bourbon Distilling will officially launch its line of spirits in late 2020. Their bourbon is currently distilled under contract at Hartfield & Co. Distillery in Paris, KY. Later this year, a 34,000 square foot distillery will be constructed near Lexington’s Distillery District.
We had to the opportunity to sample the bourbon in a delicious cocktail and neat. Both were excellent, and I am really looking forward to seeing this new distillery’s dreams come to fruition! We wish you all the best! Cheers!🥃
