This limited-edition whiskey was distilled and aged entirely in Washington State and matured since 2016 in the distillery’s Quincy, WA barrelhouses. Tasting Notes – Woodinville 9 Year Bourbon Review

Let’s taste it:

🛏 Rested: 15 minutes in a Glencairn

👉🏻 Nose: Cherry candy; sweet dried apricots, peaches, and dry oak; tart orange later on; medium-dark, lightly burnt caramel; Demerara sugar; an occasional touch of mesquite smoke that becomes more noticeable later on. Alcohol vapor is appropriate for the proof.
👉🏻 Taste: Mild simple syrup sweetness; dry oak; dark berries; mild tannins.
👉🏻 Finish: Increasingly dry, with growing white pepper spice; mild tannins; dry wood and mild char later on; faint lingering sweetness with dried fruits to the end; occasional hints of mesquite smoke; long, with a pleasant warmth.

Woodinville 9 Year Bourbon has an interesting and enjoyable progression of flavors. There is quite a bit of sweeter fruit up front; however, after a few sips, more contrasting notes of tart orange citrus, dry oak, and intermittent mesquite smoke appear. The taste has some sweetness from simple syrup, though to a lesser degree than the nose, with darker berries and increasing dry oak and tannins. The trend toward dryness continues into the finish, joined by white pepper spice, lingering dry wood, mild char, tannins, and mildly sweet dried fruits, as well.

Conclusion – Woodinville 9 Year Bourbon Review

This is quite the complex bourbon. The more sips I take, the more flavors emerge—each one revealing a new note in the nose, taste, or finish. That makes for a glass that’s difficult to put down; I keep wanting another sip to see what new flavors will appear next. If you’re looking for a whiskey that’s a flavorful adventure from start to finish, this is one you’ll want to try. Have you had it? What did you think? 🥃
