Yellowstone Bourbon History and Small Batch 107

Yellowstone Bourbon was founded by pioneer distiller Joseph Bernard Dant and named after the United States’ first national park in 1872. In 2011, seventh-generation Master Distiller Stephen Beam—a descendant of both the Dant and Beam distilling families—founded Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky, and resurrected the Yellowstone brand with the creation of Yellowstone Select Bourbon.

Yellowstone introduced Small Batch 107 in 2025 as a permanent release. Small Batch is aged six years and is the only expression in the Yellowstone portfolio to feature an age statement on its packaging, according to a press release. Bottled at 107 proof without chill filtration, it was created to provide a fuller-bodied everyday offering within the Yellowstone lineup.

👉🏻 Nose: Light and sweet, pepper, corn, vanilla, ethanol.
👉🏻 Taste: Vanilla, pepper, caramel, honey.
👉🏻 Finish: Warm, rye spice, vanilla, honey.

A Good Daily Sipper

I’ve always found the standard Yellowstone bourbons—the Select, Rum Cask and Toasted—to be too thin. There’s a market for these offerings, but I’ve long wished for another bourbon with more heft that didn’t make me go all the way up to the marvelous Yellowstone 10 and its $100 price tag.

I got my wish with Yellowstone Small Batch 107 Bourbon. It’s heavier, with great balance. The caramel-honey combination is a treat that bursts at the end and creates a long finish. The spice throughout balances the sweetness and provides a nice warmth.
